Helm Installation

Step 1: Download Helm from the below URL

# wget https://get.helm.sh/helm-v3.2.4-linux-amd64.tar.gz

Step 2: Extract the Tar file

# tar -xvzf helm-v3.2.4-linux-amd64.tar.gz

It creates a new dir linux-amd64 when we extract it

Step 3: Now go to the path linux-amd64

# cd linux-amd64

Step 4: Move the helm to /usr/local/bin

# mv helm /usr/local/bin

Step 5:  Now check the helm installation using the below command

# helm help

It gives full of helm related info and the command that support by helm

If doesn’t work, we can also try with below command

# /usr/local/bin/helm help

Error: helm command not found

If you see the above error then we need to add helm path to .bashrc as below

Steps to add the home path of helm

As we copied helm binary to /usr/local/bin already just need to add this path in .bashrc

Step 1: Edit bashrc file with any editor (vi/nano)

# vi /root/.bashrc

Add below line at the end of the file.

# export PATH=/usr/local/bin:$PATH

Step 2: Once added run the source command to append the path

# source .bashrc

Step 3: Now try to run the helm command again which gives the reply.

# helm help

It works this time 🙂
